The Krewe of Bridge has officially announced that LEGENDAY Broadway star Jennifer Holliday will reign as Queen Krewe of Bridge for the 2026 Carnival season. Known for her original role as Effie Melody White in the 1981 play Dreamgirls, she will be bringing her signature stage magic to the streets of Lake Charles on February 17th, 2026 in the Krewe of Krewes Parade.
Holliday’s iconic role in Dreamgirls, the Broadway hit, not only won her GRAMMY® and Tony® awards, it also made her a household name. Her heart-wrenching performance of her signature ballad, “And I am Telling You, I’m Not Going” is considered one of the all-time best in a Broadway musicals. Known for lighting up Broadway with her powerhouse performances, Holliday will now take center stage in one of the world’s most iconic celebrations. As Queen, she will be honored by Krewe of Bridge and founder Don Lewis in a private invite only welcoming reception at the Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center on February 16th.
